Leblanc made his triumphant return to AAA by giving up 2 ER in the 1st inning. He then posted one of the few quality starts all year for the T-Pads. Of course a 2-0 deficit against the offensive juggernaut that has been the Padres recently was nothing. By the end of the 4th inning the core was 9-2. 9-3 would be the final
Poor Leblanc has a great start for the SD Padres, and then gets sent back down the next day. Booo. Leblanc went 7 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 7 K. The quality start was actually his 3rd (4th if you count SD). In fact in Leblancs last 3 minor league starts he has gone 21 IP (7 in each), 24 H, 9 ER, 0 BB, 19 K. Speaking of no walks Poreda made his return to the mound, in mop up, and didnt walk a batter as part of a 1,2,3 inning where he struck out 2.
If the T-Pads offense wasnt good enough, the Padres were able to activate Luis Martinez before the game. Martinez responded by going 2-4, 2B, RBI. Martinez now has a multihit game in 3 of his 4 games in AAA this year (and 1-2 in the other one). Cunningham raised his BA to ,293 going 2-4, RS, 3 RBI. Rizzo and Guzman both had 2 RBI. Cabrera went 1-3, 2 BB, 3 RS, SB (10). Not bad for year leadoff hitter. And of course my favorite stat of the night is Wade LeBlanc who went 2-3, 2 RS, at the plate. Durango then PH for him in the 7th and struck out.
AA San Antonio
Despite a bad start from Reyes the offense was able to comeback in a big way winning 11-7
Once again John (DC) has a report up on madfriars with the game recap. Look for more content and interviews coming in the next few days as he interviewed pretty much everyone important, and has some info on Cumberland
I would like to mention that Cody Decker hit his 11th HR of the year today. In 21 G he now has 11 HR, Jaff is 2nd with 8 and Tekotte with 6 (Darnell with 4). By comparison Matt Clark hit 28 HR last year, next was Parrino with 11 and Tekotte and Darnell each had 10. Darnell hit 10 in 101 G....Decker has 11 in 21 G. C. Decker has an OPS of 1.049 on the year. Any OPS over 9 is great... C. Decker is 5th on the MIssions!!! Darnell (1.219) leads the league followed by Jaff (1.182) Tekotte (1.137) and Solis (1.067). Yay for offense haha
High A Lake Elsinore
Well it was a close pitchers duel for most of the game. Then San jose went off scoring runs in each of the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th. The Storm would try to comeback with 2 in the 9th but it wasnt enough as they fell 5-8
Watt got the start and wasnt hit around that much, but after allowing an unearned run to break a 1-1 tie,he gave up 2 more runs in the 5th. The pen of Beard and McBryde didnt help inning giving up 4 ER in the final 3 innings. On the day Watt went 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Galvez slugged his 3rd HR of the year going 2-4, HR, 2 RBI, BB. Fuentes also had a good day going 2-4, SF, RBI, SB (5). Anna was giving Valdez a day off and responded with 3 hits and 2 RS. The middle of the order powerhouse of Gyorko, Hagerty, and Rincon went a combined 2-13, 2B, BB, 5 K.
Low A Fort Wayne
Sampson was hit hard in the first 0.1 IP. Considering the anemic offense and the report that Willaims was lost for the year you would think that the game would already be over. Think again, the club behind Domoromo and Liriano went on to blast WM 13-7
Before anyone could blink Sampson had given up 5 ER on 4 H and a HR. Over the next 4.2 IP however Sampson went a more Sampson like 4.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K. Sampson improved to 4-1 on the year which accounts for nearly half of FtW 9 wins.
Maybe the blow to Williams was what caused the Padres to promote Domoromo, but he responded in a big way going 2-3, 2 RS, BB, SB (1) for the Tin Caps (which considering the TIn Caps scored 2 runs in the entire series against Dayton....). Even better was Rymer Liriano who had arguably his best day of his career. Liriano went 4-5, 2 2B, HR (2), 2 RS, 2 RBI. Tremblay also had a great game hitting in front of Liriano going 2-5, 2B, 2 RS, 4 RBI.
